The Granada Metro has initiated a series of partial stoppages and a full strike this week, coinciding with the final stretch of the campaign for the regional elections, causing disruptions to an essential service for thousands of users.

Starting this Monday, the Granada Metro service is being affected by labor mobilizations. The company committee, which includes the unions Comisiones Obreras, UGT, and CSIF, has called for partial stoppages until Thursday 14 and a complete service interruption for Friday 15.
These protest actions aim to denounce the "blockade" in collective bargaining and the consequent loss of purchasing power for workers in recent years. Despite recent meetings, including one last Saturday and mediation by the Extrajudicial System for Labor Conflict Resolution of Andalusia (Sercla) the previous Wednesday, no agreement has been reached between the parties.

"We have made an enormous effort to bring positions closer, but the salary proposal presented by the company is insufficient and fictitious."

The company Avanza proposed an annual salary increase of 2.9% for four consecutive years, totaling 11.6% over that period. However, the company committee has rejected this offer, arguing that workers deserve "respect, recognition, and real actions, not empty promises".
Partial stoppages will take place on Monday and Wednesday 13 during time slots from 7:00 to 9:30, 13:00 to 15:30, and 18:30 to 21:00. On Tuesday 12 and Thursday 14, the schedules will be from 7:30 to 10:00, 13:30 to 16:00, and 19:00 to 21:30. On Friday, the unions have agreed that the strike will extend throughout the entire day.
The Junta de Andalucía has established minimum services of 50% for all strike days, covering both train and station personnel, as well as supervisors, to ensure basic service operation. The Granada Metro, operational since September 2017, employs over 200 people and transports more than 53,000 users daily, connecting Albolote and Armilla with the capital.
