The project, backed by an investment of over 4 million euros, aims to restore one of the most valuable heritage sites in the Albaicín district. The goal is to adapt the building for exhibition and museum use, strengthening the city's cultural offerings for its European Capital of Culture 2031 bid.
The restoration will be carried out in two phases. The first stage will focus on the 20th-century school building and its main courtyard. Subsequently, the original historic structure and annexes will be restored, including improvements to energy efficiency and accessibility throughout the complex.
Upon completion, the building will provide over 1,300 square meters of usable space, with a significant portion dedicated to temporary exhibition halls and educational activities. The current archaeological phase, expected to last two months, will help identify heritage elements that require special preservation.
