The city of Granada is preparing for an intensely musical weekend with the International Guitar Festival. The event will bring together prominent artists exploring the diverse facets of the guitar, from pure flamenco to Latin American folklore and classical guitar.
This Friday, the day will begin with a free concert by students from the master class taught by maestro Pepe Romero at the Corral del Carbón at 8:00 PM. Later, the Peña de la Platería will host a recital at 10:30 PM by the duo formed by Chilean guitarist Andrés Hernández 'Pituquete' and Cádiz-born singer Encarna Anillo.
'Pituquete' and Encarna Anillo present an innovative proposal that fuses classic flamenco styles with Latin American melodies, establishing themselves as one of the most notable duos in the current flamenco scene.
On Saturday, the Corral del Carbón will host the performance of the American classical guitar duo Kenneth Bender and Benji Scheckner, considered rising stars in the genre, at 11:00 AM. In the afternoon, at 8:00 PM, Madrid-based classical guitarist Elena Ortega will give a concert at the Parish Church of the Expectation in Órgiva, presenting her work 'Luz tras la oscuridad'.
Saturday's program will conclude at the Peña de la Platería at 10:30 PM with a performance by Ricardo Fernández del Moral, who will combine his roles as singer and guitarist, with dancer Alba Heredia as a special guest. Fernández del Moral is known for accompanying himself on guitar while singing, a rarity in flamenco, and his performance is part of the 'Stradivarius of the Guitar' cycle.
Alba Heredia, belonging to the Sacromonte dynasty of the Maya family, has shared the stage with artists such as Mario Maya, Juan Andrés Maya, José Mercé, and Niña Pastori, contributing her talent to this event.
