Updated figures from the College of Insurance Mediators of Granada detail that the vast majority of claims, 11,719, relate to damages in homes and owner communities, accounting for over 93% of the total. These are supplemented by 609 files for businesses and warehouses, 152 for offices, 34 for industrial risks, and 17 for vehicles.
The geographical reach of the seismic events extends beyond the province of Granada. The Consortium has received claims from 74 municipalities in Granada, as well as from 10 in Malaga and 9 in Jaen. The capital city of Granada leads the number of claims with 6,086, followed by Ogíjares (1,251), Armilla (1,192), Churriana de la Vega (688), Las Gabias (503), and La Zubia (501).
The Consortium warns that the initial estimate of over 35 million euros in damages is provisional and will be updated as damage assessments progress. Affected individuals are reminded that they can still report damages, as the Consortium will process all received claims, even if the initial seven-day period has passed.
To be eligible for compensation, it is a requirement that the affected persons or properties had an active insurance policy at the time of the damage, as these are covered by Extraordinary Risk Insurance. The College of Mediators has provided practical information to professionals and policyholders to facilitate the reporting and correct documentation of damages.
