Euphoria swept through Granada and its province following the Spanish National Team's victory in the World Cup held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The triumph, secured against Argentina 1-0 in extra time with a goal from Ferrán Torres, sparked widespread celebrations.
The Fuente de las Batallas and the Palacio de Deportes esplanade became the epicenters of the celebration, drawing thousands of fans who waved national flags and chanted slogans. The streets filled with cars and motorcycles honking their horns, creating a festive atmosphere that lasted into the early morning hours.
Bars and terraces also served as gathering points for thousands of Granadans who watched the final together, sharing joy and drinks. Celebrations extended to building courtyards and private homes, while the streets remained unusually empty until the final whistle.
After the World Cup trophy was lifted, the festivities intensified. Some fans opted to cool off in the Genil river. Local and National police forces oversaw the events to maintain order amidst the general euphoria.
The celebrations spread to various towns across the province, including the Metropolitan Area (Armilla, Albolote, Maracena), Motril, Loja, Guadix, Baza, and Huéscar, where fans also took to the streets to commemorate the historic victory.
