The competition, organized by Media & Chef in collaboration with the Diputación de Granada through Sabor Granada, has established itself as a platform to champion Russian salad as a dish that transcends a simple tapa. The event underscores the importance of technique, flavor balance, and product quality in its preparation.
The CPIFP Hurtado de Mendoza, a leading institution in hospitality training in the province, will host the tastings and blind judging. The center's students will play an active role, managing the service of the finalist creations, providing them with valuable practical experience.
“"Granada is currently experiencing “an interesting moment of creative effervescence” around this dish, where classic recipes coexist with much more contemporary and author-driven proposals."
In addition to the main awards (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), a special Award for the Russian Salad with the Most Granada Flavor will be presented. This prize aims to recognize the recipe that best integrates the province's native products, such as Motril shrimp, Riofrío sturgeon, Copo de Nieve potatoes, or extra virgin olive oils from Poniente de Granada, highlighting the local gastronomic heritage.
Following an exhaustive selection process by gastronomic inspectors, the ten finalist establishments competing in this edition have been announced. These include: Bar Rojo, Bos Taurus by Aitor Pozuelo, El Puentecillo, El Trillo, Garden Plaza, Taberna La Bienpagá, La Chulapa, La Tratería, Le Bistró by El Conjuro, and Mítico Bar. Some of these names are already known for having received awards in other gastronomic competitions in the province.
