The city of Granada hosts the 11th Early Music Festival (MAG 2026), an event that positions it as a European cultural benchmark with a program running from May 18 to 30 in various emblematic venues and extending to several municipalities in the province.

The Granada Early Music Festival (MAG 2026) returns to reaffirm the city's role as a cultural meeting point of international relevance. Organized by the MAG Association and produced by Samsaoui Producciones, the event is supported by the Junta de Andalucía, the Diputación de Granada, the University of Granada (UGR), and the Granada City Council, among other collaborators.

"Granada is tradition, history, and music. This festival not only recovers our legacy but projects it as a common language between cultures. It is a fundamental tool to strengthen our candidacy for European Capital of Culture 2031, showing the world that we are a living bridge between past and present."

Jorge Saavedra · Councillor for Culture of the Granada City Council
The festival's program, running from May 18 to 30, will take place in significant venues such as the Manuel de Falla Auditorium, the Corral del Carbón, the Museo Casa de los Tiros, and the Carmen de los Mártires. Through twelve concerts, the public will be able to explore a wide musical spectrum that includes everything from Gregorian chant and Renaissance polyphony to the influences of Arab maqam, Sephardic music, and the sounds of Latin America.
Prominent ensembles such as Carmina Terrarum, Ensemble Joan March, Nacho Laguna, Contratemps, Ditirambo, Layali Amanes, and L’Incantari, among others, make up a lineup that celebrates the richness and diversity of ancient musical traditions. The closing concert, titled Alhajas: bridge between cultures, encapsulates the festival's inclusive spirit.

"The festival has the firm backing of the Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Junta de Andalucía. I especially want to highlight the strategic collaboration we maintain through the Andalusian Agency of Cultural Institutions. These aids reflect our commitment to artistic excellence and to projects that, like this one, guarantee citizens' access to a cultural offer of the highest quality and historical rigor."

David Rodríguez · Delegate of Culture of the Junta de Andalucía
Under the theme 'Musical roots in the ancient world', MAG 2026 is not limited to the capital but extends its reach to municipalities in the province such as Albuñuelas, Güevéjar, Salobreña, Cogollos Vega, Fuente Vaqueros, Albuñol, and Huéscar. Furthermore, the festival strengthens its educational dimension with the FestKids 2026 program, which includes school concerts and the 7th edition of the 'Falla, roots and time' Early Music Performance Award, aiming to bring musical heritage to new generations.
