The province of Granada is set to host the Desgranando FEST, a science outreach event that, from April 18 to 26, will offer 90 activities and feature 139 speakers, extending across the capital and various regions.

The Desgranando FEST aims to establish the province of Granada as a benchmark in the dissemination of scientific knowledge. Over nine days, the festival will unfold a wide range of formats, including workshops, film screenings, talks, exhibitions, thematic routes, artistic expressions, and critical thinking debates.
This year, the festival's reach is significantly expanded, taking its activities beyond the capital to municipalities in various regions. Towns such as Nívar, Zagra, El Valle, Pampaneira, and Cortes y Graena will be part of this initiative, bringing science closer to a more diverse audience throughout the province.
The program includes brief and dynamic talks, often accompanied by performances, interactive workshops in public squares, days dedicated to science cinema and debate, as well as micro-stories in unique spaces. The latter are designed to stimulate critical thinking and address various topics such as astronomy, literature, neuroscience, and art. Additionally, there will be comic activities, science sessions in bars, exhibitions, outreach missions, and significant participation in the Book Fair.
In the capital, activities will be distributed across emblematic locations such as the Espacio V Centenario of the UGR, the Parque de las Ciencias, the Carmen de los Mártires, and the Cuarto Real de Santo Domingo. The program will also reach squares, educational centers, museums, bookstores, and bars in Granada, ensuring an active presence in the urban fabric.
The festival has designed activities for both the general public and families, with ideal options for children. Some of these initiatives will even be led by and aimed at the youngest participants, fostering active involvement from an early age.
This remarkable growth of the festival is possible thanks to the continuous effort of the Hablando de Ciencia association, which has driven the project since 2013. It is supported by important institutions such as the University of Granada, the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC), the Parque de las Ciencias, the European Space Agency-Esero Spain (ESA) Space Education Resource Office, the Granada City Council, the Granada Provincial Council, and the CSIC centers in the province.
The Desgranando FEST 2026 aims to be a collective celebration of knowledge, transforming into a movement that connects citizens with science through emotion, creativity, and critical thinking.
