The intervention will focus on the section between Washington Irving and María Goyri streets, covering a length of 440 meters. The works, which have an estimated execution period of 11 months, aim to modernize this key road axis for the Chana District.
The project includes a complete reorganization of the urban space, prioritizing universal accessibility through wider sidewalks, flush pedestrian crossings, and tactile paving. Additionally, parking spaces will be increased, and a new roundabout will be built at the intersection with Virgen de la Consolación street to improve road safety.
“"We are talking about a road used daily by residents, businesses, and vehicles entering the city."
The intervention includes a significant environmental and infrastructure component. Public lighting will be upgraded with high-efficiency LED technology, and new green areas and landscaped medians will be integrated. In parallel, nearly 970 meters of asbestos-cement pipes will be replaced with ductile iron pipes, improving the area's water resilience.
This work is part of the 2024/27 Municipal Works Plan, an initiative mobilizing over 40 million euros across the capital to optimize quality of life, mobility, and the sustainability of public spaces in the city's neighborhoods.
