The Provincial Council of Granada has announced the awarding of contracts for tourism promotion linked to two new air connections from the Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaén Airport. The airline Vueling will operate the routes to Bilbao and Valencia for a period of three years, with operations expected to begin in the last quarter of 2026.
The connection to Bilbao will feature 104 annual frequencies and aims to provide continuity to a link that has had intermittent presence in recent years. The route to Valencia, long sought after, will significantly improve communication with eastern Spain, facilitating road travel.
The awarded contracts include not only flight operations but also the development of tourism promotion campaigns for the Granada destination and the new connections, which will be disseminated through the airline's channels and external media.
With these additions, Granada Airport will offer a total of 14 destinations by the end of 2026, ten of which will be national (including Asturias, Barcelona, Gran Canaria, Madrid, Melilla, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife, Santander, Bilbao, and Valencia) and four international (Amsterdam, Nantes, Porto, and London-Luton).
The President of the Provincial Council, Francisco Rodríguez, highlighted that these new connections are a further step in the strategy to diversify source markets and will contribute to promoting the province's tourism offerings. "More flights mean more economy and more opportunities for Granada," he stated.
