The program, organized by the Department of Culture, Historical Heritage and Sport, will run until August 15th. For twelve nights, the Generalife Theater will host the production titled Las gitanas cantan y bailan a Lorca, a piece that seeks to connect flamenco tradition with contemporary creation.
The stage proposal moves away from the literal recreation of the verses to offer a new approach to the universe of the poet from Granada. The show features various figures from the current flamenco scene, integrating music, poetry, and dance into a unified narrative that places the text at the center of the performance.
Following the conclusion of this opening cycle, the program will continue in the third week of August with a performance by the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía. The company will present Tierra Bendita. Tierra vieja de candil, a flamenco suite that explores Andalusian cultural roots in dialogue with the poetic sensitivity of Federico García Lorca.
