The operation, dubbed 'Nazari 152 Albolut' and carried out by the Organized Crime and Anti-Drug Team (EDOA) of the Granada Command, has dismantled a complex network involved in the cultivation, storage, and distribution of marijuana destined for Europe. The investigation, which began in March, revealed a structured organization with significant logistical infrastructure and the use of advanced technology, including frequency jammers and geolocation devices, to evade police detection.
The exploitation phase, conducted on July 2nd, involved 12 simultaneous raids in municipalities such as Albolote, Maracena, Cúllar Vega, Santa Fe, and Calicasas. Agents seized over 160 kilograms of vacuum-sealed marijuana, 380 cannabis sativa plants, hashish, five firearms, a bladed weapon, ammunition of various calibers, packaging machines, a frequency jammer, two GPS trackers, 14 vehicles, and three motorcycles.
Economically, over 124,000 euros in cash, a banknote counting machine, and numerous pieces of jewelry were confiscated. An Irish national, allegedly acting as a liaison with foreign buyers, was among those arrested. The operation has also frozen over ten properties, 20 vehicles, and bank accounts valued at more than two million euros.
The 37 detainees are being investigated for crimes including membership in a criminal organization, drug trafficking, cultivation and processing of narcotic substances, and money laundering. Additionally, potential wildlife crimes were uncovered: two pygmy marmosets in a state of malnutrition were rescued in Albolote, and a 32-year-old woman has been brought before the court for a wildlife offense. Further inspections revealed animals in irregular administrative situations and poor hygienic-sanitary conditions.
