The Granada City Council has received the backing of Cesur, a prominent business organization from the south of the country, for the city's bid to be the European Capital of Culture in 2031. This support was formalized in an event where the importance of collaboration between the business and social fabric for the project's success was emphasized.
The mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, thanked Cesur for its adhesion, stating that the Granada 2031 initiative "continues to consolidate itself as a candidacy capable of uniting culture, knowledge, innovation, and economic development around a shared vision for the city's future." She highlighted that the involvement of leading business organizations broadens the candidacy's scope and its capacity to generate opportunities and attract talent.
Cesur, which brings together entrepreneurs and senior executives from Andalusia, Extremadura, Ceuta, and Melilla, works to promote initiatives for economic development, innovation, competitiveness, and social and educational improvement in southern Spain. The entity fosters collaboration between companies, institutions, and civil society to strengthen territorial leadership.
The executive vice president of Cesur, Fernando Seco, affirmed that the adhesion to the Granada European Capital of Culture 2031 project reaffirms the commitment of businessmen from southern Spain to culture as "a strategic engine for economic development, innovation, and social cohesion." The City Council will continue to promote participation actions and cultural programming to strengthen support for the candidacy.
