The men's team of Balonmano Ciudad de Granada saw their promotion aspirations dashed after a narrow 28-27 defeat against CD Erreka KE. Despite winning their previous two promotion phase games, self-inflicted errors and accumulated fatigue proved decisive in the final match.
The game was highly contested. The Granada team, coached by Óscar Valero, dominated the first 20 minutes, but the Navarrese team managed to build a three-goal lead before halftime, which was reduced to one (16-15) by the break. The second half was characterized by parity, with constant draws on the scoreboard. However, with five minutes remaining, Erreka established a three-goal advantage. The home team managed to equalize with 30 seconds left, but a last-second play secured the victory for the visitors.
Meanwhile, the women's team also exited the promotion race after losing their third match against the host team, Fundación Agustinos Alicante, by 33-30. The Granada team needed a significant victory to be promoted and at times held a four-goal lead. Nevertheless, the experience and talent of some Alicante players, considered to be of a superior category, were decisive for the home team's win.
