The Mujeres ODS Association (MODS), a pioneering organization in Spain led by women and dedicated to integrating the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, has announced its formal support for Granada's candidacy to be the European Capital of Culture in 2031. The organization, based in Granada but with a global outlook, aims to promote "a more just, sustainable, and inclusive world".

MODS distinguishes itself as the first association in Spain to integrate the SDGs transversally, focusing on female empowerment and women's leadership as a key driver for achieving these goals. Its network of associates and collaborators extends internationally, with a presence in over fifteen countries across America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

The mayor of Granada, Marifrán Carazo, positively assessed this adhesion, highlighting how MODS embodies two of the city's project's core values: sustainability and female drive. "Sustainability and women's drive are two of the most transformative forces of our time, and MODS perfectly embodies them," stated the mayor, adding that the association represents "exactly the kind of ally that Granada 2031 needs and deserves".

The mayor emphasized the inseparable connection between culture and sustainability, and the essential role of women in this relationship. "That is why MODS's adhesion is not just institutional backing, it is an affirmation of shared values that strengthens the collective project we are building towards 2031," she concluded.

For her part, the president of MODS, Heidi Zahn, highlighted the alignment of values between the association and Granada's candidacy, mentioning Culture, Cooperation, and interculturality as key points. "This adhesion makes us fully happy," she declared.

With this incorporation, MODS joins a "broad set" of civil, business, and institutional organizations supporting Granada's bid as European Capital of Culture 2031, enriching the project with a "global, feminist, and sustainability-committed perspective".
