The candidate for Adelante Andalucía in Granada joined a demonstration this Saturday, organized by social movements, in defense of public services. The march, which started at 12:00 PM from the Fuente de las Batallas and ended in Plaza Nueva, was held under the slogan “Save the Public Sector”.
This mobilization was part of a simultaneous call in several Andalusian cities and brought together numerous social organizations, unions such as CGT, CNT, and USTEA, and neighborhood platforms like Albayzín Habitable and Realejo Habitable, in addition to environmental and human rights groups. All of them demanded a firm commitment from public administrations to equality, social cohesion, and dignified living conditions for all citizens.
“"We are suffering in Andalusia from the government's privatization plan. Dismantling public services: healthcare, education, social services."
At the end of the march, the Adelante Andalucía candidate denounced the progressive deterioration of essential services in Andalusia and held the regional government responsible for what she described as “a systematic privatization plan.” She highlighted the outsourcing of basic services that, in her opinion, should be managed directly by the public sector, noting that 90% of cleaning services for institutions like the University or the City Council are already private, as is the library service.
The party representative expressed the fatigue of workers facing this situation and criticized the use of public funds for military spending while pensions and basic services are cut. She argued that no public budget euro should go to private companies that only seek their own profit, stating that health, housing, or training cannot depend on the money workers carry in their pockets.
She concluded with a call to citizens for the upcoming regional elections on May 17, urging them to vote for change and the defense of public services, and noting that the demonstration showed the existence of a mobilized citizenry ready to defend their rights.
