The Diputación de Granada opens the doors of its central headquarters to exhibit the finalist works from the Sculpture category of the GranArte 2026 Awards, an initiative aimed at showcasing young talent.

The hall of the provincial institution is hosting, during the months of September and October, an exhibition of the selected creations in the Sculpture category of the GranArte 2026 Awards. This exhibition aims to bring the finalist works of this provincial competition, launched to promote and value the talent of Granada's youth, closer to the public.
Roberto González, deputy for Social Centers, Seniors, and Youth, highlighted that "GranArte is a firm commitment by the Diputación to our young people and their capacity to offer new perspectives on the reality surrounding us." He noted that exhibiting these works in an accessible space like the Diputación's hall allows the talent of young artists to move beyond usual circuits and be known and enjoyed by all citizens.
Under the slogan "Area 5000. The challenge of filling the void," GranArte 2026 this year focuses on artistic interpretations of municipalities with smaller populations, exploring concepts such as roots, depopulation, collective memory, identity, and future opportunities. Artistic creation becomes a tool to view the territory from different perspectives, suggesting that this "void" need not be understood solely as absence, but also as a space to recover connections and build new possibilities.
The selected works offer diverse interpretations of the rural world, all sharing the objective of valuing what endures and defines the identity of our towns: traditional crafts, everyday objects, conversations, memories, intergenerational relationships, and knowledge passed down through time, along with the slow pace of rural life that invites reflection away from the rush of contemporary society.
The Diputación's hall is thus transformed during these months into an exhibition space where the creative youth of the province engage with the present and future of our towns, highlighting what makes them unique and proposing new ways of viewing the rural environment through contemporary art.
Furthermore, this exhibition serves as a prelude to one of the most anticipated moments of GranArte 2026. On October 29, the Diputación will host the GranArte Gala at the Centro Federico García Lorca, where the winning works across the six categories of this edition—mural painting, comic, fashion, sculpture, illustration, and photography—will be announced.
