The province of Granada experienced a new seismic movement this morning, according to data from the National Geographic Institute (IGN). The earthquake's epicenter was located in the municipality of Santa Fe, creating anticipation among residents of the metropolitan area and the capital.
The seismic event occurred at 07:05 AM this Friday. The IGN detailed that the epicenter was situated southwest of Santa Fe, with a magnitude of 2.6 on the mbLg scale. A key aspect is the hypocenter's depth, set at 0.0 kilometers, which explains why the tremor was clearly felt by the population.
The metropolitan area of Granada is known for its high seismic activity, keeping its residents alert to any vibrations. Despite the perception, authorities have not reported any material or personal damages so far. The 112 Emergency service received control calls, but the low magnitude of the earthquake suggests no serious consequences for local structures.
In the face of such phenomena, experts recommend remaining calm and seeking shelter under a sturdy table if inside a building. The National Geographic Institute constantly updates its intensity maps, also based on citizen surveys from those who feel the tremors, which helps combat misinformation.
