The plenary session of the Provincial Council of Almería unanimously approved a new investment exceeding 2.5 million euros aimed at promoting infrastructure and communication route projects in several municipalities of the province. These actions are part of the Provincial Plans and the Road Plan.
Within the Provincial Plans, 2 million euros will be allocated. Of this amount, 381,500 euros will go to Fiñana for street urbanization. Meanwhile, La Mojonera will receive a total of 1.7 million euros, co-financed with the city council, for the repair and climate control of its municipal swimming pool.
With these new approvals, the Council has mobilized nearly 50 million euros in works during the current term (2024-2027). These funds are enabling the development of 103 projects across the province, covering roads, water supply and sanitation, hydrological improvements, parks, and sports facilities.
The spokesperson for the Government Team, Carlos Sánchez, highlighted that the Provincial Plans are the institution's main tool for transforming municipalities in collaboration with city councils, ensuring quality services and infrastructure, and fostering equal opportunities.
The Road Plan, on the other hand, incorporates new projects worth half a million euros to improve communication routes in Alicún, Terque, Turrillas, Ohanes, Santa Fe de Mondújar, and Turre. These rural roads are fundamental for economic activity and the communication of scattered settlements.
The Municipal Road Plan 2024-2027 contemplates a global investment of 14 million euros, making it, according to the Council, the most ambitious program in the provincial institution's history. It will reach all municipalities in Almería and includes a specific new line for the rehabilitation of roads of social, heritage, and tourist interest.
Sánchez emphasized that these actions will improve the state, safety, and functionality of essential routes for the daily lives of municipalities, particularly for facilitating access to agricultural and livestock farms, scattered settlements, rural homes, and natural spaces, as well as ensuring more comfortable and safe mobility.
In recent months, the Council has also approved the awarding of Road Plan actions in municipalities such as Alcolea, Bayarque, Bédar, María, Suflí, Tabernas, Vélez-Blanco, Huécija, and Fondón, with an investment approaching 700,000 euros.
The Council thus positions the Provincial Plans and the Road Plan as two of its main instruments of municipal cooperation to modernize municipal infrastructure, improve public services, and promote safer and more efficient mobility throughout the province.
