Abrucena, in the province of Almería, has established itself as a hub for wine tradition with the celebration of its 3rd Provincial Artisan Wine Contest. The Plaza de Andalucía hosted wine enthusiasts, wineries, and local producers who shared and tasted a wide variety of wines.
The event, aimed at highlighting artisanal work and local gastronomic products, offered attendees informative talks and the opportunity to visit stands from wineries and local product vendors. The day culminated in a blind tasting where five experts evaluated up to 20 references of white, red, and rosé wines.
In the red wine category, the first prize went to Pepe Zoyo from Fiñana. Antonio Aparicio, from Abrucena, took first place in white wine, and Fernando Sánchez, from Abla, in the rosé category. Second and third prizes were also awarded to producers from Abrucena, Fiñana, and Serón.
The celebration included a popular paella and the presentation of the Association of Friends of Almería Wines, an entity dedicated to promoting wine culture and supporting regional producers. The day concluded with musical performances by ‘Little Rock’, ‘A Contra Corriente’, and DJ BR.
