The Sanlúcar de Barrameda City Council has set up a Purple Point during the Manzanilla Fair to provide information and specialized assistance against gender violence and sexual assault, aiming to ensure a safe space for women.

The Manzanilla Fair in Sanlúcar de Barrameda will once again feature a Purple Point dedicated to the prevention, awareness, and support regarding gender-based violence and sexual assault. The service will be operational throughout the fair's duration, aiming to contribute to making the fairgrounds a safe space for women.
The Purple Point is located at the Municipal Emergency Center, known as Cecop, situated next to the fountain connecting La Calzada de la Duquesa Isabel promenade with the Paseo Marítimo. This space offers information, advice, and specialized assistance to individuals seeking guidance and to potential victims of gender violence or sexual assault.
This initiative is part of the municipal campaign for the prevention and awareness of sexual assault promoted during the Manzanilla Fair. The goal is to foster citizen awareness and provide support resources in case situations of gender-based violence occur during the celebration days.
The service is promoted by the Municipal Department of Equality and is staffed by professionals specializing in psychology and criminology. According to the City Council, the Purple Point offers confidential attention and immediate intervention when necessary, as well as activating emergency protocols in coordination with police, health, and judicial services.
In addition to direct assistance, the initiative carries out informational and awareness-raising activities among fair attendees. Distributed materials include informational brochures, guides on resources against gender violence, pens, preventive cup covers, and informative bracelets related to preventing chemical submission.
The presence of this resource aligns with an increasingly common practice at festivals and large events across Spain, where the so-called Purple Points serve as reference points for preventing violent behavior and assisting potential victims.
The City Council highlights that this service will be available daily until next Saturday, coinciding with the main events of the Manzanilla Fair. Its operation is funded through the State Pact against Gender Violence funds.
The establishment of the Purple Point is in addition to other security and assistance measures deployed during the fair to ensure a safe celebration for residents and visitors. The intention is that anyone needing information, support, or help can access this resource immediately and with specialized care.
