The fire, which started around 4:35 PM this Monday in the Montehigos area, has caused significant alarm among Almonte residents due to the large amount of visible smoke. Local authorities have indicated that the affected area is a plastic storage point, contributing to the smoke's toxicity.
“"Everything indicates it could be intentional."
The Almonte Local Police have stated that the causes of the incident are being investigated, suggesting a possible intentional origin. Although it is assured that there is no direct risk to the population outside the affected area, residents have been advised to stay indoors with doors and windows closed as a precautionary measure.
The Infoca unit has deployed significant resources to control the flames and prevent their spread to the nearby forest area. Two Reinforcement Brigades against Fires in the Autonomous Community of Andalusia (Bricas), a group of forest firefighters, a Brica operations technician, and an environmental agent have been mobilized. Additionally, a fire engine and a heavy helicopter are operating on the ground for extinguishing efforts.
