Firefighters from the Provincial Consortium of Huelva, along with personnel from the Infoca Plan, have successfully controlled a fire that ignited on Tuesday at the waste management plant in Almonte, situated in the Montehigo area. This same facility previously caught fire on April 20th, which resulted in a significant smoke plume.
According to information provided by the Infoca Plan via its 'X' account, the fire is now under control, and the teams deployed to the scene are continuing with the mopping-up and extinguishment efforts. The fire alert was received at 11:30 AM, prompting the request for Infoca's involvement due to the fire's proximity to a forested area.
A total of 12 firefighters from three Provincial Consortium stations (Almonte, Valverde del Camino, and San Juan del Puerto), supported by eight fire trucks, have been dispatched to the incident site. The Infoca has sent an environmental agent and a heavy fire engine (tanker).
Following the activation of the Andalusian Forest Fire Emergency Plan, a ground-based cargo plane, a team of forest firefighters, an environmental agent, and a fire engine were mobilized. The Provincial Consortium emphasized that although the fire is controlled, it has 'a lot of load,' indicating a high temperature. A water tanker from the Almonte City Council is also present in the area.
