This decision, ratified by the entity's Plenary after reviewing the Technical Committee's report and the Tasting Panel's evaluation, underscores the Condado's wine sector's ability to maintain high quality standards even under adverse conditions. This assessment covers the Condado de Huelva, Vinagre del Condado de Huelva, and Vino Naranja del Condado de Huelva Protected Geographical Indication.
“"Wine begins in the vineyard, and the constant work of the winegrower has been decisive in achieving this level in a year marked by cultivation health difficulties."
Vicente Pérez García de Prado, president of the Regulatory Council, emphasized that the success of this vintage is primarily due to the effort made in the fields. Despite significant vineyard issues that impacted the final volume of the 2025 harvest, the resulting wines performed very well, particularly the young white wines, which stood out for their balance and tasting profile.
The Tasting Panel specifically highlighted the performance of wines made from the indigenous Zalema variety, which showed excellent analytical parameters and a defined sensory profile. The freshness, personality, and balance of this grape further solidify its distinctive value in Condado wines.
The entity stresses that the quality of this vintage cannot be understood without the daily work carried out in the vineyard. Pérez García de Prado reiterated that behind every wine there are people, and without constant vineyard care, excellence in the final product would not be possible. The vintage rating was based on the analysis of musts and wines, as well as sensory evaluation, ensuring adherence to the control and quality standards set by the Regulatory Council.
With this "Very Good" rating, the Condado de Huelva wine sector looks forward to marketing the 2025 harvest with optimism, supported by the quality of its wines and a winemaking tradition that continues to evolve while retaining its identity.
