“"After many years, the hospital is finished, with access also completed, but it remains closed simply and solely because the Lepe City Council, in an absolutely intolerable gesture of incapacity, blockage, and sabotage of a public health infrastructure, which should guarantee healthcare for 100,000 residents from eight municipalities in this territory."

The Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) has urged the Lepe City Council to expedite the water, electricity, and sanitation supply works for the Western Coast High-Resolution Hospital (Chare), whose opening is scheduled for late 2026.
The socialist group has submitted a formal request to the Lepe council, demanding that the Popular Party-led local government fulfill its obligations and immediately carry out the necessary connections. According to the PSOE, the completion of this infrastructure is crucial to prevent further delays in the hospital's operational launch.
A spokesperson for the PSOE of Huelva explained that, at the time, the Lepe City Council and the Junta de Andalucía signed a protocol. In this agreement, the regional administration committed to the land and construction of the hospital, while the Lepe council assumed exclusive responsibility for guaranteeing electricity, potable water, sanitation, and purification supplies.
The Junta de Andalucía had already announced its commitment to open the Chare by the end of this year, stating a few weeks ago that it was working on rectifying defects and deterioration, in addition to providing clinical furniture and electromedical equipment. For its part, the Lepe City Council reported approximately two months ago that the water supply work had been completed and that the purification plant works had begun, assuring that the electricity supply was also underway.
The socialist spokesperson criticized the Lepe City Council's slowness in this matter, contrasting it with the diligence shown in ensuring conditions for private healthcare in the municipality. They stated that the hospital's current situation is a "monument to incompetence and sabotage of public healthcare," attributing this attitude to an alleged interest in favoring the private healthcare business in the area.
Finally, the PSOE has called on the residents of the Western Coast of Huelva to reflect on the Popular Party's attitude towards public healthcare, urging them to vote for a model that guarantees quality public healthcare.
