This past weekend, Ayamonte's Teatro Cardenio was filled with devoted rocieros for the first commemorative event organized by the Hermandad del Rocío de la Puerta de España. This gathering marked the official start of the journey towards the El Rocío 2026 pilgrimage, generating significant anticipation and emotion among attendees.
The presentation, skillfully led by young Ayamontina Marta Sánchez Romero, maintained a solemn and respectful tone throughout. Her composure and confidence were crucial in weaving together each segment, earning her recognition and prolonged applause from the appreciative audience.
One of the most anticipated moments was the unveiling of the poster, an artwork by Carmen Sánchez Ruda, whose profile was eloquently presented by Manuel Joaquín Gil Sevillano. The central image of the poster features the brotherhood's Simpecado in full procession, surrounded by a multitude of members dressed in flamenco attire, capturing the essence of the Ayamontina pilgrimage.
The audience quickly reacted. Applause, gestures of complicity, and the visible emotion of the artist marked a moment that transcended the artistic. It was, in a way, a reflection of shared devotion.
During the evening, Miguel Seda Casimiro was also introduced as the preacher for the upcoming pilgrimage. Seda Casimiro, deeply connected to the brotherhood, will be responsible for articulating the rociero sentiment of Ayamonte in the weeks leading up to the journey. The event concluded with the presentation of the commemorative magazine for El Rocío 2026 and musical performances of sevillanas and rumbas by Edu and Juan Cayuela, adding a festive touch to the night.
