The feast of the Virgen del Carmen, patron saint of sailors, fishermen, and the Spanish Navy, will be celebrated in Rota on July 16. The Brotherhood of Our Lady of Carmen has organized a schedule of events aimed at keeping local traditions alive.
The events will begin with two processions. The first will be a maritime procession on Wednesday, July 15, at 7:00 PM, at the fishing port. The following day, Thursday, July 16, at 7:30 PM, the image will parade through the town's urban center.
As part of the celebration, the III Verbena del Carmen will take place on Saturday, July 18, at the Rota Sports and Fishing Port, starting at 1:00 PM. The event will feature a bar managed by the brotherhood, offering tapas and the traditional 'Sardiná' (sardine feast) at popular prices.
The festival will be enlivened by various musical and dance performances by local flamenco groups and other artists. The program includes a Zumba session 'Vecinas zumberas' at 7:30 PM, followed by the carving of almadraba tuna at 8:30 PM.
The music will continue with a performance by the local group 'Alborada del Sur' at 9:30 PM, followed by the Rocío Sánchez Dance Academy at 10:30 PM. The evening will conclude with the local group Astarock at 11:30 PM.
The Verbena de Nuestra Señora del Carmen is presented as an opportunity to enjoy music, gastronomy, and a festive and family atmosphere, reconnecting with the traditions of the Cádiz coast.
