The Rota Base, the largest military installation in the province of Cádiz, will allow access to citizens interested in getting to know some of its areas up close. This initiative, organized in collaboration with the Rota City Council, aims to showcase the work of the Navy and the US Navy units present at the base.
The open day event will take place on Sunday, May 31. Visitors can enjoy a tour lasting approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, which will include a static exhibition of aircraft units from the Air Flotilla on the airfield, as well as material and vehicles from the Marine Corps and the US Navy.
To ensure the comfort and safety of attendees, obtaining passes is necessary, and it is recommended to do so in advance as they usually sell out quickly. Applications can be made in person at the Rota municipal tourism office, located at the Torre de la Merced, or via a specific email address set up for the occasion.
Those opting for the online method must provide their full name, ID number (DNI), and the document's expiry date. For security reasons, telephone reservations will not be accepted. Passes are non-transferable, and children under 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Access will not be permitted with bags, backpacks, banners, or pets.
Buses for transport to the base will depart from the rear esplanade of the Rota bus station, with assigned times for each pass. Comfortable clothing and footwear are recommended. The tourism office is open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 2 pm and from 5 pm to 7:30 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am to 12:45 pm. Requests will be accepted from May 19, 2026, until capacity is reached.
