Filming for the new fiction series by RTVE and Boomerang TV, focusing on the life of the iconic singer Rocío Jurado, has started in Chipiona, the Cadiz town where the artist was born. The initial images from the set have generated considerable excitement, particularly regarding the surprising physical resemblance of the actress playing 'La Más Grande' in her adult years.
This production, presented as a four-episode miniseries, will trace the life and professional career of Rocío Jurado, from her beginnings in Andalusia to her international stardom. The fiction will also delve into personal and pivotal moments of her life, coinciding with the twentieth anniversary of her passing.
The lead actress's physical transformation has been a major talking point. The makeup, hair, and costume teams have achieved a faithful characterization, meticulously recreating the singer's appearance across different stages, leading many locals to remark on the uncanny likeness.
Scenes filmed in Chipiona include recreations of the artist's visits to the chapel of the Virgen de Regla, a moment deeply embedded in the collective memory of the town. The period's ambiance and styling, including references to her relationship with bullfighter José Ortega Cano, are being carefully detailed.
The confirmed cast includes actor Martiño Rivas, who will portray Pedro Carrasco, Rocío Jurado's first husband and father of Rocío Carrasco. While Rocío Carrasco's direct involvement has not been officially confirmed, speculation suggests her potential collaboration or advisory role in the production.
The scale of the production has necessitated temporary traffic diversions in several areas of Chipiona, such as the Explanada de Regla and sections of Avenida de Sevilla and Avenida Nuestra Señora de Regla, to facilitate the technical crews' work. The town has effectively transformed into a large television set.
This new venture by RTVE aims to surpass the more modest reception of previous audiovisual productions about Rocío Jurado's life, such as the 2013 series 'Como las alas al viento,' with the ambition of becoming a major television premiere in the coming months.
