The Culture department of the Ayuntamiento de Villa del Río organized the traditional night hiking route, which started from the Plaza de la Constitución and ended at the Roman Bridge. Around 200 residents joined this initiative that combines hiking, community, history, heritage, and culture.
The mayor of Villa del Río, Jesús Morales Molina, welcomed attendees and highlighted the importance of showcasing the Roman Bridge, declared a Bien de Interés Cultural (Asset of Cultural Interest), as a heritage symbol of the town. He reiterated the need for its restoration and the enhancement of its surroundings.
Subsequently, the Cuarteto Lírico de Bujalance presented the lyrical show «Una noche en la ópera» (A Night at the Opera), performing a repertoire of pieces from opera, zarzuela, and lyrical song, including «Nessun dorma» as the finale.
During the performance of the «Brindis de La Traviata» (Brindis from La Traviata), the mayor, officers from the Local Police, and volunteers from Civil Protection joined on stage for a symbolic toast. This gesture celebrated the return of music to the emblematic enclave, which had recently suffered flooding.
The organization expressed gratitude for the collaboration of the Volunteer Group of Civil Protection, the Local Police, municipal workers, and the technical staff from the Culture department.
The Roman Bridge, located on the ancient Vía Augusta and declared a Bien de Interés Cultural, is a historical, artistic, and cultural symbol of Villa del Río.
