The Jerez, Costa Noroeste y Sierra de Cádiz Health Management Area, in collaboration with Rotary Club Jerez Internacional, has launched the first phases of a project aimed at humanizing the pediatric hospitalization unit. This initiative seeks to improve the stay of minors undergoing oncological treatments and their companions.
The territorial delegate for Health and Consumption, Eva Pajares, attended the presentation event, highlighting the progress of this solidarity project. The delegate expressed gratitude for the involvement of the collaborating entity and all individuals and organizations that have contributed to making this improvement at the hospital a reality.
The initial actions have allowed for the adaptation of four pediatric hospitalization rooms. These individual spaces have been conceived to be more intimate and comfortable, adapting to the needs of both patients and their families. They feature areas for companions and adapted bathrooms, in addition to furniture and elements that create a warmer and more humanized atmosphere.
“"This is a project “made with heart,” born from the commitment of the club's members and the collaboration of numerous donors, professionals, and companies who have helped make it possible."
From the Pediatrics Service, the development of the works has been highly valued, emphasizing the constant coordination between healthcare professionals and the technical team. This collaboration has been key to adapting the spaces to the real needs of the patients, ensuring accessibility, functionality, and comfort, without interrupting the operation of the ward during the works.
The project, fully funded by the collaborating entity at no cost to the public health system, contemplates the progressive creation of new spaces. These will include rest and support areas, aligning with a child-centered care model, as well as rooms for particularly delicate situations. The Health Management Area will be responsible for the maintenance of the facilities once completed.
