The Hotel Senator Playa Ballena, located in the Costa Ballena urbanization of Rota, has been awarded the prestigious Urta de Oro 2026. This recognition highlights its sustained contribution to promoting tourism in the Cadiz municipality, where it has been operating for over 25 years.
Opened a quarter-century ago, this establishment stands out for remaining open throughout the year, not just during the summer season. It offers a wide range of rooms and services designed for all ages, including 'Pet Friendly' options and a spa area for guest well-being. Additionally, it features modern facilities for professional events.
“"The trajectory of this hotel, a pioneer in the Costa Ballena complex, has welcomed thousands of visitors, helping to consolidate Rota's image as a tourist destination and generating a positive impact on the local economy and employment."
The decision to grant the Urta de Oro 2026 to the Hotel Senator Playa Ballena was announced by the Rota City Council at the start of the Spring Fair. The award, which will be officially presented during the Urta Festival in summer, annually recognizes entities that excel in promoting Rota's image.
The town of Rota, with a population of nearly 30,000 that triples in summer, benefits from its strategic location on the northwest coast of Cádiz, near the Bay of Cádiz and bathed by the Atlantic Ocean. The presence of the Rota Naval Base also contributes to its dynamism, complementing a tourism offer that includes about fifty accommodations.
