The ‘Cine en los Barrios’ (Cinema in the Neighborhoods) cycle in Sanlúcar de Barrameda concludes this evening, Thursday, September 3, 2026, with the screening of the film ‘Wonka’ at the Municipal Theatre. This marks the tenth and final free session of a cycle that has brought cinema to various neighborhoods, squares, and parks across the city since August 17.
The initiative has visited the neighborhoods of Andalucía, El Palomar, San Lucas, and San Diego, as well as locations such as the Scouts' Park, the City of Boys and Girls, the Las Palmeras Boulevard, Plaza de la Paz, and the Municipal Theatre itself. The film selection was designed for all audiences, encouraging family enjoyment.
The local Government has given a very positive assessment of this first edition, highlighting the significant neighborhood response and the success in bringing cinema to different parts of the city. Concurrently, the ‘Summer Cinema’ season, which took place in August with eight screenings on the beaches of La Calzada and Bonanza, as well as at the Central Plaza of La Algaida and the Municipal Center of La Jara, has also received a favorable municipal evaluation.
Collectively, both initiatives have offered a total of eighteen free open-air cinema sessions in Sanlúcar, consolidating an accessible cultural leisure offering. The Government of Mayor Carmen Álvarez considers it essential to promote such activities to facilitate access to culture and bring it to the closest environment of the citizens.
These actions align with the municipal objectives of revitalizing neighborhoods, strengthening community ties, and creating spaces for intergenerational coexistence, promoting a friendlier city through shared neighborhood moments.
