The Dengra theatre will host this Friday, September 4th, at 8:30 PM, the extraordinary gala that will initiate the Fair and Festivities of Baza. The event will feature the Official Proclamation and the presentation of the Cascamorras Award 2026.
This year's proclaimer is Miguel José Ávalos González, a 45-year-old teacher and nature photographer, recognized for his deep connection to Baza, its culture, and its natural heritage. The mayor, Pedro J. Ramos, highlighted his involvement and passion for the city, describing him as a role model.
Ávalos González has announced that his proclamation will be an "emotional, honest, and profound look at Baza," addressing its cultural identity and memory, and enhanced with audiovisual material. Following the proclamation, accompanied by singer Desirée, the Cascamorras Award will be presented to brothers José Antonio and Francisco Cano Manzano, honored for their commitment to the Cascamorras Fiesta and its values of inclusion and fraternity.
The celebration of the Fiesta of International Tourist Interest, the Cascamorras, shared by Baza and Guadix, will take place on Sunday, September 6th, at 6:00 PM, marking the official start of the festivities which will run until September 15th.
