The municipality of Chipiona will tender a project aimed at installing new underground container points for the collection of urban solid waste. The initiative, with an investment of €883,178, will be carried out at eight strategic locations distributed throughout the municipal area.
This project will replace the current conventional containers with underground systems, offering approximately three times the collection capacity. This increased capacity will allow for more effective management of needs arising during the summer months, a period that sees a notable increase in population and, consequently, in waste generation.
The mayor, Luis Mario Aparcero, has highlighted that this measure aligns with the municipal commitment to improving urban cleanliness. He pointed out the necessity of replacing some existing containers, which he attributes to problems related to dirtiness and operational issues.
The primary objective of this action is to optimize waste management and address a problem affecting the municipality, particularly during periods of high visitor and tourist influx.
Aparcero also emphasized that improving cleanliness is not solely the responsibility of the City Council, and has appealed for citizen collaboration to ensure proper use of public spaces and containers.
