Next November 11th marks 100 years since the birth of José Manuel Caballero Bonald, a key figure in Hispanic literature. The poet, novelist, essayist, and flamenco scholar, who passed away in 2021, maintained a close relationship with Chipiona, where he lived for decades. His literary legacy is linked to natural spaces such as Doñana and the mouth of the Guadalquivir river, places that inspired his work and are reflected in the viewpoint named after him on the Las Canteras Maritime Promenade.
The Culture Department of the Chipiona City Council has announced a program of activities for November 9th and 10th to mark this centenary. This was communicated by the head of the municipal area, Tano Guzmán, who emphasized the importance of continuing to promote the figure and work of Caballero Bonald for greater historical understanding.
