The award, considered one of the most significant in the province and the Costa Tropical region, was presented this Sunday at the local Town Hall auditorium. The event is part of the activities scheduled for Loquat Day, which take place throughout the day in the municipality's streets.
The minister expressed her gratitude to those present, and especially to the mayor, for this distinction. She emphasized that the Golden Loquat has previously been awarded to "important figures" in Granadan and Andalusian politics, which enhances the award's prestige.
“"The Golden Loquat has been awarded to important figures in Granadan and Andalusian politics."
Otívar is recognized as the main reference and producer of loquats in Andalusia, which is why this festival has been celebrated since 1999. Loquat Day coincides with the peak of the fruit harvesting season, becoming a day full of exhibitions, musical performances, workshops, and markets, organized by the City Council.
