The meeting, which brought together collectives, associative representatives, and citizens, served as a space for reflection on the evolution of the collective's rights in Spain, the role of political formations, education, the reality of trans people, sports, the situation of older people, and the impact of hate speech.
The association emphasizes that, despite recent legislative advances, the collective's rights are not fully consolidated, with inequalities and risks of regression persisting. A central point of the debate was education as a key tool to prevent discrimination, especially in schools, stressing the need to reinforce affective-sexual education and combat harassment based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
The lack of training in public administrations and various professional sectors was also highlighted, which hinders the correct application of legislation and effective access to rights. Regarding trans people, the need for more specific regulations and greater social awareness to combat prejudices was evident.
The situation of older LGBTIQ+ individuals, considered vulnerable, led to proposals for creating safe spaces, improving care in residences, and developing public policies. In the sports field, structural barriers and lack of visibility were identified, advocating for the promotion of role models and inclusive environments.
“"Rights are not guaranteed solely by laws, but by their real application and the commitment of all society."
As a result of the meeting, AMODI has presented political parties with a series of proposals, including the effective implementation of affective-sexual education at all educational stages, the development of specific legislation for the trans collective, the creation of a regulatory framework for the protection of older LGBTIQ+ individuals, and stricter penalties for hate crimes. They also request mandatory diversity training in administrations, educational centers, health, and sports sectors, as well as the promotion of inclusive sports and institutional support for associative networks in Motril and the Costa Tropical.
