The socialist party has presented a set of measures aimed at reversing what they consider a “dismantling” of public services in the region. Among the priorities is to halt the deterioration of Motril Hospital, ensuring medical attention in health centers within a maximum of 48 hours and reinforcing the hospital's staff. They also commit to completing the North building of Motril Hospital and constructing a new health center in Vélez de Benaudalla.
“"It is urgent to reinforce staff and specialties to reduce referrals, delays, and care overload. Public healthcare cannot withstand another 4 years."
In the educational sphere, the program includes the construction of a new IES in La Herradura and the improvement of the Motril Teacher Training Center. Furthermore, a Dual Vocational Training will be promoted, linked to strategic sectors of the Coast, such as sustainable tourism, agribusiness, renewable energies, and digitalization. The party has also committed to incorporating the Coast into the Bioclimatization Plan.
A key point of the proposals is the development of Motril Port, which they seek to connect to the Mediterranean Corridor and a future intermodal Agro-industrial Logistics Center. Socialists criticize the lack of urbanization of land owned by the Junta, which hinders the growth of port infrastructure and the establishment of new companies. Railway connection is also included as a priority.
“"The Motril dock area must be the future, the hope for many young people not to have to leave and for many people who want to establish their life project in Motril."
Regarding housing, within the provincial public housing and rehabilitation plan, the socialist project foresees actions in Huerta de Carrasco de Motril. Additionally, the PSOE will facilitate housing purchases for young people, alleviating concerns about the initial down payment. Concerning water, they criticize the collection of the purification fee without adequate infrastructure and commit to advancing the execution of the Rules channels and other supply works.
