Among the highlighted actions are an increased reinforcement of security and surveillance, a greater provision of cleaning resources, and an awareness campaign on the proper use of this coastal enclave. The deputy mayor in charge of the municipal Beaches area, José Peña, visited the vicinity of Playa Can, next to Playa del Cable, to present these initiatives.
Motril's Canine Beach is recognized as a unique space in the region where pets can accompany their owners. To preserve this environment, an awareness campaign is being carried out, targeting both fishermen and other users, with the aim of reminding them of the current regulations and promoting responsible activity on the beach.
The City Council reminds that the Motril Beaches Usage and Enjoyment Ordinance prohibits shore and underwater fishing between 9:00 AM and 10:00 PM during the bathing season, to prevent harm to other users from fishing gear. Non-compliance can result in fines ranging from 301.00 to 3,000.00 euros.
Furthermore, José Peña reported that the City Council has contacted the Costa Tropical Fishermen's Association to address these issues and foster joint awareness. The Local Police will strengthen surveillance to ensure compliance with municipal ordinances and prevent uncivil behavior.
Another key measure is the reinforcement of the cleaning service with more human and mechanical resources. A cleaning tractor has been assigned to daily patrol the shoreline, maintaining the sand in optimal condition and removing debris. Manual cleaning has also been intensified, and an extra surveillance tower with one more lifeguard than last year has been added.
José Peña concluded by highlighting the quality of Motril's beaches and the importance of keeping them suitable for the safe use of all users and their pets.
