The space, prepared in optimal conditions for study, will be open from Monday, August 3rd, in the afternoon, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
The councilor for the municipal area of Education, Mayte Jiménez, reported that this measure, part of the government team's planning, aims to adapt the service to high summer temperatures and agree on the use of spaces with workers. The proposal was unanimously approved at the General Negotiation Board on July 3rd.
As an alternative, the Casa de La Palma Library will maintain its public service in the mornings, from 9:00 AM to 1:20 PM, ensuring service and book lending.
By conditioning La Matraquilla, the aim is to offer Motril's students and exam candidates an adequate and climate-controlled space to prepare for their exams. The councilor emphasized that the primary function of a public library goes beyond lending, and the goal is to offer modern facilities specifically designed for young people.
The Motril City Council is also advancing a project for a new modern and accessible study hall on Avenida Arquitecto Ángel Gijón. This new space, covering 240 square meters, will feature 50 individual study desks, two soundproof booths, and two group work rooms. It is expected to be completed by early 2027 and may operate 24 hours a day during peak demand.
Mayte Jiménez highlighted that this initiative demonstrates 'useful politics' based on informing, working, and providing the best conditions for citizens.
