The initiative, organized in collaboration with the Aula de Pensamiento and Editorial Puerta Granada, aims to encourage poetic creation while keeping the memory of the city's sugar past alive. The contest is also supported by the Academia de Buenas Letras de Granada, which will provide literary guidance.
The rules state that entries must be original and unpublished, with free form and theme. Interested participants can submit their work until August 31, 2026, via email. The winning poem will receive a certificate and a 500-euro prize, and will be featured in a book published by Editorial Puerta Granada alongside the finalists' works.
“"Poetry has the capacity to transform memory into emotion, to give voice to memories and, above all, to establish that dialogue between the past and new generations."
Organizers emphasize that this contest is an opportunity for citizens to rediscover industrial heritage from an artistic perspective. The project aims to become a benchmark in Motril's cultural agenda, connecting the history of the Fábrica del Pilar with contemporary literary expression.
