CF Motril has announced the immediate dismissal of its first-team coach. This drastic measure comes just hours before the team faces the final matchday of Tercera RFEF and prepares for the promotion playoff.
The decision follows a goalless draw against Melilla 'B', a result that left the blue and white team without direct promotion possibilities, which ultimately went to Mijas Las Lagunas. Sources close to the club indicate that the board was dissatisfied with the team's direction, leading to disagreements with the former head coach.
“"The decision comes after the team drew in Melilla and lost its chances of achieving direct promotion to Segunda RFEF."
Now, the assistant coach, Mario Cabrera, will take charge of the team on an interim basis. The club from the Granada coast must decide whether to keep Cabrera for the playoff or seek a new coach to prepare the team for what is expected to be a very demanding promotion phase.
