The night of August 15th marked the closing of the Patron Saint Festivals in Almuñécar, featuring a grand pyromusical display that drew an estimated crowd of over 100,000 people. The event, stretching from Punta de la Mona to Los Pinos, was viewed from beaches, boats, promenades, balconies, and viewpoints, solidifying the event as Andalusia's largest pyromusical spectacle.
The mayor of Almuñécar, Juan José Ruiz Joya, described the day as a "final flourish" for an unforgettable festival, highlighting the attendance of thousands who enjoyed the municipality. He emphasized the City Council's efforts to provide a memorable celebration, particularly noting the pyromusical show's multiple firing points, including the sea, the Peñón del Santo, the castle, and the beach itself.
Alberto García Gilabert, the Councillor for Festivals, underscored the months of preparation behind the 25-minute spectacle, emphasizing the coordination between the Police, Firefighters, Civil Protection, and municipal workers. He expressed satisfaction with the "symbiosis" between gunpowder and music, and the final ovation from the audience.
The Patron Saint Festivals, which concluded on August 15th, saw full attendance at their main events. The nighttime program featured artists such as El Arrebato, Antonio José, Rosa López, Laura Gallego, and Café Quijano, alongside orchestras and DJs. The Daytime Fair, held from August 9th to 11th, included performances by Hakuna Matata, King África, and Sefora, among others.
The Night Fair recorded an average daily attendance of 10,000 people over six days, totaling approximately 60,000 cumulative attendances. The 20 stalls at the Daytime Fair attracted over 6,000 daily visitors during its three-day run.
Despite the high concentration of attendees, the festivals proceeded without significant incidents, thanks to the extensive security deployment and coordination among the involved services.
