The flare, launched from a boat at sea, hit an office on the Paseo Marítimo, causing damage and forcing the evacuation of the building's residents. The incident, which resulted in no human injuries, required the intervention of firefighters, Local Police, and the National Police. Around thirty residents had to be temporarily rehoused.
The investigated young man, who received treatment for burns on his hands, will have to answer for a serious arson offense. The judicial proceedings could determine that he compensates the affected residents, the owner of the damaged office, and covers the costs of the firefighting services.
The material damages caused by the event could amount to approximately 100,000 euros.
