This significant contract, which will define the operation of essential public services in the municipality for the coming years, has already been sent for publication in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU). Once it appears in this official journal or 48 hours have passed since the acknowledgment of receipt, the tender will also be available on the Public Sector Contracting Platform.
The procedure has been structured into two distinct lots. The first, with a duration of ten years, will encompass street cleaning, municipal waste collection, and beach maintenance. The second lot, specifically for the collection of furniture and bulky items, will have a five-year term.
The initiative aims to implement a renewed management model, including the complete overhaul of machinery and equipment. Services range from the transport of waste from homes and businesses to the ordinary and special cleaning of public spaces and beaches, both manually and mechanically.
Furthermore, the tender includes the separate collection of furniture and bulky items, requiring the necessary human, material, and technological resources for its proper functioning. Objectives include action traceability, incident tracking, environmental sustainability, and compliance with current waste regulations.
The council asserts that this new model will enhance service delivery without increasing the financial burden on citizens. The administrative process began with the approval of the relevant report by the municipal plenary in July 2025, followed by the incorporation of technical and financial assessments.
The City Council justifies the contract by the importance of these tasks for public health, urban hygiene, environmental protection, quality of life, and the tourism image of Torremolinos.
