The municipal decision is based on the results of the latest analyses, which showed that the water does not meet the required health standards, making swimming inadvisable to protect public health. This preventive measure aligns with current regulations on sanitary water quality.
The origin of this problem dates back to late last year, when several sewage pipes in Torremolinos broke following the flooding of the Guadalhorce River. Since then, the council has continuously monitored the situation, conducting periodic analyses to assess the evolution of water quality.
In parallel, the Málaga City Council has been carrying out the necessary repair works since the beginning of the year to restore the normal functioning of the affected sanitation infrastructures.
The Torremolinos City Council has assured that it will continue with analytical controls and will promptly report any developments related to this incident, adapting measures based on the results obtained to ensure the safety of bathers.
