Torremolinos City Council has put out to tender its third asphalting plan, with an investment of 2.2 million euros, to renew 67,069 square meters of roadways in various areas of the municipality.

The council will allocate 2.2 million euros to a new asphalting plan covering a total area of 67,069.55 square meters across different parts of the municipality. This initiative, the third promoted by the governing team, aims to improve public roads, urban conservation, and the modernization of everyday spaces.
The plan includes improvements to a section of the MA-20 connecting to the municipality of Málaga, addressing the deterioration of the road surface on Avenida Manuel Fraga Iribarne. This road shows cracks, potholes, and crumbling that affect road safety and the image of one of the access points to the town.
The tender for this project, with an execution period of five months, has a budget of 2,211,944.78 euros (VAT included). Offers can be submitted until September 22 through the Public Sector Contracting Platform.
The objectives of the new plan include removing deteriorated asphalt, replacing the wearing course, raising manholes, grates, or drains, and applying horizontal road markings. The intention is to reserve an annual budget for constant road renewal, prioritizing residential and commercial areas.
Mayor Margarita del Cid highlighted that the investment responds to a real need to continue improving street conditions, focusing on traffic flow, safety, accessibility, and Torremolinos's urban image. She emphasized that asphalting is a "basic, but essential" action for residents' quality of life.
The City Council thus continues the progressive renewal of the municipality's road infrastructure, building on previous improvement efforts. Interventions will focus on areas with the most wear to promote safer and more comfortable mobility for both vehicles and pedestrians, correcting deterioration and adapting affected areas.
These actions contribute to enhancing road safety, reducing inconvenience from poor pavement conditions, and improving the perception of public spaces in neighborhoods with significant resident, tourist, and commercial activity. The plan is part of a broader roadmap for urban maintenance and regeneration, aimed at preparing the city for current mobility and coexistence needs.
The council will progressively provide information on the progress of the works to minimize potential disruptions during execution and facilitate coordination with residents, businesses, and road users.
