The Andalusian PSOE, through its candidate Patricia Alba, has pledged the immediate construction of a school and an institute in Benahavís (Málaga) should their party come to power, accusing the Popular Party of eight years of inaction in public education.

During a visit to the plot designated for future educational centers in Benahavís, Patricia Alba, who holds the fourth position on the PSOE's list for the upcoming Andalusian elections, denounced what she described as the «neglect and mistreatment» by Juanma Moreno's government towards public education in the region. Alba recalled that three years ago, the president of the PP of Málaga, Patricia Navarro, had already promised the imminent construction of these infrastructures.

"Three years later there is nothing: no project, no works, no dates. And meanwhile, the children continue to pay the consequences of this neglect, without educational quality and without equal opportunities."

The socialist candidate emphasized that eight years of Moreno's administration have meant «mistreatment of Andalusian public education». In this context, Alba assured that the PSOE will guarantee quality public education, stating that «when María Jesús Montero becomes president of the Junta de Andalucía, both the school and the institute will be built immediately in this municipality».
Socialist councilwomen Ana Bermúdez and Diana Rubianes accompanied Alba on her visit and also criticized the PP's management. Bermúdez accused the popular party of making empty promises and prioritizing private interests over the educational needs of Benahavís families. For her part, Rubianes lamented the current situation of an «overcrowded» school with students in prefabricated classrooms, noting that families are «tired of waiting for a solution».

"This is how the Popular Party understands education in Benahavís: for a few, land and privileges; for our families, abandonment and excuses. Benahavís deserves a school, an institute and responsible politicians."

Ana Bermúdez · Socialist Councilwoman
Rubianes also mentioned that the PP has reclassified land for private schools but not for public education, and criticized that the only plot offered for the new centers is next to an electrical substation. Furthermore, she recalled that the Prosecutor's Office is investigating the mayor of Benahavís for allegedly benefiting private interests with public land.
