Resurfacing works on the MA-21, specifically on the stretch between Málaga Airport and the municipal boundary of Torremolinos, will lead to nightly traffic disruptions. These closures are scheduled to begin on the night of Sunday, April 26, and will continue until the morning of Friday, May 22, as announced by the Málaga City Council.
The construction activities will take place during nighttime hours, from 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM, from Sunday to Thursday. Friday and Saturday nights are excluded from the work schedule to minimize inconvenience for drivers. The contract for these works has been awarded to a UTE (Temporary Business Union) formed by Suministros Asfálticos, S.L. and Firmes y Asfaltados del Sur, S.L., contractors for the municipal high-density road paving program.
The city council has issued recommendations for drivers, suggesting alternative routes such as the MA-20 or the A-7 for travel towards the Churriana district and Torremolinos. For those needing to access Churriana or nearby shopping centers via the MA-21, an alternative route involves taking the MA-23 at the airport exit, then merging onto the MA-20. Drivers heading to Torremolinos from Churriana should consider using Camino del Pilar or the MA-20.
It is important to note that the estimated completion time for the works may be extended if weather conditions are unfavorable, as resurfacing operations are incompatible with rain.
